Photos of our wild & serene natural landscape. Magic is real and it can be found in the wilderness.
The Magic of Water
Water is my favorite. Maybe it's because I'm an Aquarius. Maybe it's because I grew up in Northern California and water was plentiful here then. It always draws me in.
Bridge Over Troubled Waters - Sacramento River Valley
This is the perfect place to cool off in our oppressive summer heat. The giant pool has swirling eddies and beautiful rainbow trout. Time stands still when you float in this mountain runoff.
River in the Redwoods
My husband and I happened to find this completely secluded spot, where we were able to slip into the blue-green water naked, away from prying eyes.
Seaside Cacti
Sometimes a short walk toward the sea can offer you the chance to see life through a different lens.
Vibrant Magenta Peony
This plant blooms in our front yard every spring - it's a showstopper. It's a tree peony, and we got it from my grandparents' yard a long time ago.
Smiling Dogs
Our two dogs, Gus and Charlie, are happiest when they come with us on adventures. Neither of them are good at swimming but they still love being at the water's edge. The joy here is palpable.
River’s Edge
This is one of the spots my dad has been fishing since the early 1960s. He's taken me to this spot countless times - enough to know that after he's gone, I'll be able to find him here.
Castle Crags Close-up
Snapped this after a long, arduous hike to the top of Castle Crags State Park in Northern California. This is at the end of the Castle Dome Trail, which crosses the Pacific Crest Trail. It is remarkably beautiful.
Crooked Pine - Lassen National Forest
Crooked trees always fill my mind with mysteries of the past. They make me grateful for the wilderness, and the way it frees my mind from normal societal distractions.
